Why is it, that if you are tall and have short hair that your instantly a man? I know there is a huge stigma about "butch" lesbians and their hair. I don't consider myself to be "butch" I actually identify more with gender-queer, but anyway back to my point. Daily people call me "sir", if I correct them they look at me as if I am stupid, so most of the time I don't.
When I am unsure of a person's gender I try to use gender neutural pronouns. Is it ignorance or the lack of attention that people pay to one another that causes such confusion?
If someone took the time to actually look at me, they would notice that yes, I do dress gender neutural leaning towards "men's clothing", however if you look you will see that I have tits, and if you listen you will realize I do not have a deep voice but wider hips and a feminine facial structure minus the adam's apple.
Speaking of tits, mine are not huge however I know other gender queer females who have DD, DDD + tits and people still call them "sir". It's very confusing to me as a gender-queer that being as I have tits, does most of society think they are man boobs? Ew.
The fact is that people want to lump everyone into a catergory. Boy. Girl.
Sometimes when I look at people I tend to look at them without a gender. I wonder if others think like I do. When I see someone interesting, I don't care what they happen to identify as but I want to respect them for who they want to be. Not to offend them or give them reason to sit and question the same things I do.
Will society change?
When did they pass a law that said if you wear jeans, polo, and a baseball cap then you must be a man? I think most of people's confusion on the matter would end if they just didn't pass so much judgment. So what, I got the tom-boy gender-queer short hair sir gene deal with it..Because we deal with them and all their straight glory.
Being queer is fabulous.
Cheers, A
